From Incline Village and Crystal Bay down to Stateline and Zephyr Cove, mountain living comes with its own coverage questions — provider access, travel, and second homes. I help Nevada Tahoe residents sort them out in plain English.
Lake Tahoe’s Nevada communities are beautiful and a little remote, and that shapes every insurance decision. Specialists, hospitals, and pharmacies often mean a drive down to Reno or Carson City — so the plan you choose has to travel with you, not trap you in a narrow local network.
I focus on the Nevada side of the lake — Incline Village and Crystal Bay in Washoe County, and Zephyr Cove, Stateline, Glenbrook and Kingsbury in Douglas County. Many residents here split time between the mountain and a second home, or are semi-retired, which makes travel benefits and nationwide access especially valuable.
We can meet up in Incline, down at Stateline, or over video — whatever the season and the road conditions allow.
Nevada Tahoe communities I serve:
Protect your health and your time, and protect the money that funds whatever is next. As an independent broker I shop A+ rated carriers for you — never just one company’s menu.
For mountain residents, the biggest Medicare question is access. Local urgent care and Barton Health on the South Shore cover a lot, but for specialists and hospital care many Tahoe residents travel to Reno (Renown, Saint Mary’s) or Carson City (Carson Tahoe). A plan that only works with a narrow local network can leave you stranded.
That’s why a Medicare Supplement plan is worth a serious look up here — it lets you see any provider nationwide that accepts Medicare, whether that’s in Incline, down the hill in Reno, or while you’re traveling. We’ll weigh it against Advantage plans honestly.
If you spend part of the year elsewhere — a common Tahoe pattern — we’ll make sure your plan’s travel and out-of-area rules actually fit how you live, so you’re covered on both ends.
A note on the state line: I’m licensed in Nevada and focus on Nevada residents. If you live on the California side of the lake, I’m glad to point you in the right direction.
Plan availability and provider networks change every year and by ZIP code. I don’t offer every plan in the area — we’ll review the ones that fit your doctors and budget, and you can always compare all options at Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE.
It’s just me — Daniel. When you call, you reach the person who will actually sit down with you in Lake Tahoe, compare your options in plain English, and be here next year when something changes.
I represent you, not a single carrier, so we compare A+ rated companies side by side and pick what actually fits.
A review costs you nothing. As a broker I’m paid by the carrier you choose — your premium is the same whether you use me or not.
You’ll leave understanding your coverage well enough to explain it to a friend — that’s the whole point.
Medicare runs on a calendar, and the deadlines don’t bend for anyone. Here are the windows every Lake Tahoe resident — from Incline Village to Zephyr Cove and Stateline — should know.
Your Initial Enrollment Period runs seven months: the three months before your 65th-birthday month, that month, and the three after. Starting early keeps your coverage from lapsing and helps you avoid late penalties.
Every year you can compare and switch Medicare Advantage and Part D drug plans. Whatever you change takes effect January 1 — so fall is the time to make sure last year’s plan still fits this year’s doctors and drugs.
Already in a Medicare Advantage plan? You get one chance in this window to switch to a different Advantage plan or move back to Original Medicare.
The six months after you turn 65 and enroll in Part B are your one guaranteed-issue window for a Medicare Supplement — no health questions and no medical underwriting.
Splitting time between the lake and somewhere else, or moving in or out of the basin? A move can open a Special Enrollment Period outside these dates. Because Tahoe care often means traveling to Reno, Carson City, or Barton Health on the South Shore, it’s worth confirming your doctors and hospital are in a Medicare Advantage plan’s network before you enroll — and that your prescriptions are on its drug list. Nevada’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) offers free Medicare counseling if you want a neutral sounding board, and my help never costs a thing.
The best plan isn’t the one I sell the most of. It’s the one you understand so well you never lose sleep over it again.
— Daniel J. FaiellaIt depends on the plan’s travel and out-of-area rules. Medicare Supplement plans give you nationwide access to any provider that accepts Medicare, which suits a two-home life well. Some Medicare Advantage plans have travel benefits too — we’ll match the plan to how and where you actually live.
Local options like Barton Health serve the South Shore, but many residents travel to Reno or Carson City for specialists and hospital care. Because of that, plans with broad, non-network access are often the better fit up here — we’ll confirm your providers are covered before you enroll.
The whole Nevada side of the lake — Incline Village and Crystal Bay in the north, and Zephyr Cove, Stateline, Glenbrook and Kingsbury to the south. We can meet on the mountain or by video.
I’m licensed in Nevada and focus on Nevada residents. If you live on the California shore I’ll happily help you find the right licensed agent for your area.
Carson City based, and out on the road across the region every week. Not your town? Just ask — I very likely cover it.
