Local help, in the town I live in.

I’m based right here in Carson City — not a call center three states away. That means when you have a question in March, or a card gets denied at the pharmacy in October, you can reach the same person who set your plan up.

The capital has one of the highest concentrations of retirees and public-sector pensioners in Northern Nevada. If you’re coordinating Medicare with a Nevada PERS retiree benefit, timing your enrollment around a state paycheck, or just trying to keep your Carson Tahoe doctors, those are the exact conversations I have every week.

We can meet wherever is easy for you — downtown near the Capitol, out toward Washoe Valley, or in the neighborhoods around Stewart and Kings Canyon.

Medicare, locally

Medicare in Carson City.

Most Carson City residents get their care through the Carson Tahoe Health system — Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and its network of clinics. Before you pick a Medicare Advantage plan, the first question is always whether your doctors and Carson Tahoe are in that plan’s network.

If you keep Original Medicare plus a Medigap (Supplement) plan, network isn’t the issue — any provider that accepts Medicare accepts you. That trade-off, network vs. freedom, is the heart of almost every Carson City Medicare decision, and it’s exactly what a free review is for.

Retiring from the State of Nevada? We’ll line your Medicare start date up with your PERS retiree coverage so you don’t pay twice or leave a gap. Turning 65 and still working? We’ll figure out whether to take Part B now or delay it.

I’ll also make sure your Part D drug plan actually covers your prescriptions at a Carson City pharmacy — the single most common (and most expensive) thing people get wrong on their own.

Plan availability and provider networks change every year and by ZIP code. I don’t offer every plan in the area — we’ll review the ones that fit your doctors and budget, and you can always compare all options at Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE.

no call center, no script

Why work with a local independent broker.

It’s just me — Daniel. When you call, you reach the person who will actually sit down with you in Carson City, compare your options in plain English, and be here next year when something changes.

Independent, not captive

I represent you, not a single carrier, so we compare A+ rated companies side by side and pick what actually fits.

$0 for my help

A review costs you nothing. As a broker I’m paid by the carrier you choose — your premium is the same whether you use me or not.

I teach first

You’ll leave understanding your coverage well enough to explain it to a friend — that’s the whole point.

Timing matters

Medicare dates worth putting on the calendar.

Medicare runs on a calendar, and missing a window can cost you money or a full year with the wrong plan. Here are the dates every Carson City resident on — or approaching — Medicare should keep handy.

Turning 65 — your first window

Your Initial Enrollment Period runs seven months: the three months before your 65th-birthday month, that month, and the three after. Starting early keeps your coverage from lapsing and helps you avoid late penalties.

Fall Open Enrollment · Oct 15 – Dec 7

Every year you can compare and switch Medicare Advantage and Part D drug plans. Whatever you change takes effect January 1 — so fall is the time to make sure last year’s plan still fits this year’s doctors and drugs.

Advantage Open Enrollment · Jan 1 – Mar 31

Already in a Medicare Advantage plan? You get one chance in this window to switch to a different Advantage plan or move back to Original Medicare.

Medigap open enrollment

The six months after you turn 65 and enroll in Part B are your one guaranteed-issue window for a Medicare Supplement — no health questions and no medical underwriting.

New to Carson City, or moving somewhere new in Nevada? A move can open a Special Enrollment Period outside these dates. Before you lock in a Medicare Advantage plan, it’s worth confirming your doctors and hospital — for many of my Carson City clients that’s Carson Tahoe Health — are in the plan’s network, and that your prescriptions are on its drug list. If you’d rather talk it through with someone neutral first, Nevada offers free Medicare counseling through the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) — and my help is always $0, whichever direction you go.

The best plan isn’t the one I sell the most of. It’s the one you understand so well you never lose sleep over it again.

Good questions

Frequently asked.

Do you charge for helping me with Medicare in Carson City?

No. A consultation and plan review are completely free. As an independent broker I’m paid by whichever carrier you choose, and your premium is exactly the same whether you enroll through me or on your own — you just get a local person in your corner.

I’m a Nevada PERS retiree. Can you help coordinate Medicare with my state benefits?

Yes — this is one of the most common situations I handle in Carson City. We’ll make sure your Medicare enrollment lines up with your PERS retiree coverage so you avoid gaps, penalties, or paying for coverage twice.

Will my Carson Tahoe doctors be covered?

That depends on the plan. With a Medicare Supplement plan you can see any provider in the country that accepts Medicare, including Carson Tahoe. With a Medicare Advantage plan we check the network first — before you enroll — to confirm your specific doctors are in it.

When can I change my Medicare plan?

Most people make changes during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7, for coverage that starts January 1. There are also special windows when you turn 65, retire, lose other coverage, or move. If you’re not sure which applies to you, call me and we’ll figure it out.
